Music School
Constantly discovering new challenges, Simon finds himself as busy as ever, pursuing his love of music through his many projects including his new music school. Simon has long dreamt of creating a unique environment where he could develop and share his passion for music and had fulfilled this dream with the creation of Simon Gardner Music.
Performance
He was also regular guitarist with Oz Hornz, which has seen him support acts such as Christine Anu and David Campbell. Simon is a clinician for Roland/Boss, a Fender endorsee and has recently completed writing his 5th film score for the animated short film Burley.
Background
Simon started playing guitar at age 13 and quickly became obsessed with the instrument. From private tuition with Rick Purdie to the famed GIT in Holly wood, Simon has studied and learned the craft of guitar playing and gained a deep musical understanding. From playing in covers and original bands touring the east coast of Australia to his first solo album in 1994, his many guitar clinics, a predominantly acoustic album in 2002, and his most ambitious album to date, The Dragon released in 2005, Simon continues to push the boundaries of music in all facets of his life. Musical influences such as Claude Debussy, Miles Davis, Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Beck, Satriani and Vai have all provided Simon with an inexhaustible depth of inspiration for his playing.
"I have a real and true passion for creating music and anything to do with mood, sound, texture and imagination. For me it’s about taking people out of their own worlds to different places and spaces creating something that often begins as a vivid dream or idea and with hard work and imagination, becomes a unique experience for anyone listening."
